Duct tape table
In the category of “cool things with duct tape” I want to tell you about a great idea the wyf came up with. This one caught me off guard because of her request to use duct tape.
Our office area is set up with a bit of an industrial theme and she wanted to add a table in there for the kids to do their crafty things on. All we had was an ugly 6′x2′ heavy duty fold out table, super ugly, very heavy, but perfect size. To make it more like the decor of the room she thought we should cover it in duct tape. Hmm…. ok.

What do you think?
I thought it was a great idea! You can create your own pattern, pick your own color, and if it gets gouged or messed up you can patch it with a new pattern. Its waterproof and things don’t stick to it (great for kids and play dough). Decide you want to redecorate the room? No problem, redecorate the table to match.
The picture above is after about 4 months of constant use by the kids and it has faired well with no patching yet.

Well, *I* think it rocks.
Though it used more duct tape then I thought. We used a large roll plus a bit more.

The Kid #2 will be proud. He will make you a duct-tape wallet in any color scheme you desire. I suppose if I showed this to him, he would come up with some way to create a “quilt” pattern on the table.

I am surprised the wyf suggested this. That is quite some wyf you’ve got there

I would be awesome to feature kid #2’s duct tape design. Send me some pics.

Interesting idea, I like it. Better than contact paper or some other Martha Stewart plany.
I’d vote for adding interactive-LED lighting to the table top, but that’s a bit more complicated.
